So that's probably one of the longest hiatuses I've taken....
But with good reason, I think. Life is busy. Between some lifestyle changes I've made recently and AP classes that are kicking my butt, DA has kinda fallen by the wayside.
I've decided that in the interest of not becoming an internet-potato, I'm limiting my amount of completely unproductive web surfing (ie refreshing the page every two minutes out of sheer boredom in hopes that someone loves me and has sent me a message). I'll be here every so often, but no longer in every waking hour of my free time.
Over the past year or so, I've realized just how awesome it is that the internet can foster friendships that would never have happened otherwise. I've been able to get in touch with people from the west coast, east coast, and everywhere in between. I'm coming to see that the internet can do some pretty amazing things, some things that can impact people more than you think.
So this is me deciding I want to get to know my watchers better. And anyone else who happens to read this, for that matter. Stop by and say hi or something. I'm gonna be making a better effort to get to know you guys as people, rather than just people who make art. Similarly, I'll try to tell you a bit more about myself too. Perhaps I'll try some personal, going-on-about-my-life journals ala
shadowvaen. I've also been playing with the idea of creating a blog in which I attempt to ramble on about life in general and such, so if I ever get that going I'll post a link here. Much of my time on the internet as been spent on both Twitter and Pintrest (mostly Pintrest), the links to which I'll post below. (I tried out the Tumblr thing, but I can't see to get into it like other people are :/ ). So if you're on either of those sites and wanna follow me, lemme know who you are and I'll follow you back. c:
My art has begun to take a different direction than it was headed in several months ago. I've moved away from conceptual stuff slightly, and more towards a fine art sort of thing. Which, I just realized, is probably a product of doing more work for class than for my own personal enjoyment (said classes are very message-and-symbolism-based). Nonetheless, I'm excited to experiment and see where it goes. Not to say that I don't still do character art; my style is still very character-based. I like to think of it as 'graphic-novelist-meets-Van-Gogh.' ;3 And there's still plenty of concept sketching for Untame (the epic three-novel project I'm working on with
kiwifrog ). I suppose I'm just becoming more open to the idea of fine art, and that I can use it as means of communication or an avenue to make myself better understood.
Hopefully I'll be able to put up some of the work I've done for class, which requires the ability to take good photos/scans of large paintings. So we'll see, I suppose. I've also been writing more and more poems. Though they're meant to be performed in a spoken-word format, I could post some of those too.
Even though free time has been elusive lately, I'll still be taking commissions, since I'm not one to turn down opportunities for money at the moment. The link to info will be posted below.
Having been away for so long, I've come back to an inbox that is about ready to explode. I'm going to be working on replying to messages, but I think I need to just shovel out all the deviations and journals. Seriously, combined I've got over 11 thousand to go through. So if there's anything you think I should read or anything amazing I need to see, please let me know.
I'm also going to take this opportunity to clean out both my watch list and my gallery. There's some pretty old, scary stuff in my gallery. :s
It's gonna be a process, but hopefully I'll have the motivation to keep chipping away at it.
Oh oh before I forget,
shadowvaen tagged me a while back and I figure I should probably do that...
1. If you could live forever, would you?
Probably not. The fact that life is temporary only adds to its beauty. Plus, the concept of continually and endlessly outliving my loved ones kinda freaks me out. :/
2. The name of a person that you can't live without?
God. But I suppose He's not technically a person. So I shall have to go with Megan. :3
3. If you were to become a Bleach character, who would you be?
Uhh.... I don't watch or read Bleach. *hides from the rotten vegetables which are surely about to be thrown*
4. The name of a person that you hate?
If hatred were a person, I would hate them.
5. How do you feel about pirates, mateys?
Pirates are awesome. But if this is an implied 'pirates vs. ninjas,' I'll have you know that I'm pretty much neutral.
6. Something that scares you?
Not being able to accomplish and experience all the things I want to before I die.
7. A place where you feel...safe?
Home.
8. You feelin' the Christmas spirit?
I certainly was. Now I'm just feeling that "it's cold and I really want it to be spring" spirit.
9. How important is music to you?
Very. I nearly always have something playing. It affects my mood, inspires my writing and my art.... yeah.
10. If you become infected with an irreversible zombie bite, what do you do?
Burst into tears. Seriously.
